Frequently Asked Questions
Is EMA Telemed a PointClickCare partner?
Yes. EMA Telemed is an approved PointClickCare partner. Our platform integrates with PointClickCare, so vital signs can move securely and reliably into the resident’s chart.
Do we need to buy anything or replace existing devices?
You will need access to our platform and the right number of Gateway Hubs. You do not need to replace your current tablets or laptops. If your existing vital sign devices are Bluetooth-compatible, FDA-cleared, and supported by our system, they may work. Click here to see a list of compatible devices.
How do I log in and start using your platform?
Open the EMA’s login page and enter your ORG ID. You will then be directed to the PointClickCare sign-in page. Sign in using your PointClickCare credentials. After signing in, you will be taken to the Vitals Sent Home page. From there, staff can capture resident vital signs and send them directly to the resident’s chart in PointClickCare. How does our nursing staff use the platform?
Staff log in to EMA’s platform from the facility’s tablets or laptops. Once logged in, they select the resident and take the resident’s vital signs using FDA cleared Bluetooth devices. The readings appear instantly, so staff can review them and send them to PointClickCare with one click.
How are the vital signs received and reviewed before submission?
The Bluetooth vital sign device sends the reading to the Gateway Hub. The reading then appears on the resident’s profile screen for staff to review before sending it to the chart. This gives staff a chance to catch anything that looks wrong before it is submitted.
How do the readings get into the resident’s chart?
Once the nurse reviews the readings and clicks Submit, the vital signs are sent directly to the resident’s chart. If needed, staff can also enter the readings manually before submitting them.
How do Scales connect to the resident's chart?
The scale connects by Bluetooth to the Gateway Hub. Staff can review the reading in our app, then submit it securely into the resident’s chart.
Does EMA Telemed meet HIPAA rules for protecting ePHI?
Yes. EMA Telemed is HIPAA compliant. We use advanced encryption and secure protocols to help protect ePHI and maintain data integrity when information moves between the resident’s chart and our connectivity platform.
Can staff access the system outside the facility?
No. To use our platform, you must sign in through PointClickCare using your PointClickCare credentials. User activity is also logged, so the facility can see who signed in and what actions were taken.
How many Gateway Hubs would we need?
That depends on your resident count, your layout, and whether different units take vitals at the same time. We would look at your setup and recommend the right number.
How long does setup take?
Once we understand your layout and workflow, setup is straightforward. We configure the Hubs, activate the devices, and train your team so they can start using the system with confidence.
How much training does staff need?
Usually not much, because your staff already know how to take vital signs. We train them on the workflow, and if you are local we can do in person training. If not, we provide live remote training, videos, and a manual.
Where does resident info come from and how is it updated?
The platform pulls resident information directly from PointClickCare. When resident information is updated in PointClickCare, those changes will appear in our platform the next time staff sign in.
Will this create more work for nurses—or less?
Less. Staff still take vitals the way they normally do, but they no longer have to type them into the resident’s chart by hand. That reduces documentation time and helps prevent avoidable data-entry errors.
